The People’s Harvest Forum is a grassroots conference on radical food politics. It aims to inspire and empower both new and seasoned activists in working towards food justice and food sovereignty. We speak about the widespread impacts agribusiness has on our society and on the environment, and discuss ways to build alternatives and reclaim our food systems. This forum is unique in that we integrate an animal liberation ethic in our vision for just and sustainable food systems. It promotes veganic gardening and farming, setting them at the intersection of food justice and animal rights movements.

Our first event in 2015 emphasized food struggles in the Bay Area and urban spaces. In 2016, we explored the politics of our food systems and how best to engage politically for a better food system.

The theme for 2017 is “Resources” – resources that corporations usurp and monopolize, and resources that communities defend and reclaim. What resources can help us build a People’s Food System? We will explore land, seeds, popular education and much more.
